On Monday (Sept 24th), Apple will release the next-generation of the Macintosh computer operating system called macOS 10.4 Mojave. We’re very excited for Mojave because it’s jam packed with some incredible new features like Dynamic Desktop, Stacks, Continuity Camera, and improvements to the Finder, Quick Look, FaceTime, the App Store & more. However what really sets it apart is that for the first time in a very long time, we’ve got a completely redesigned UI (User Interface) called Dark Mode. It’s not only super cool and sinister, it’s easier on the eyes and helps keep you focused. In any case, upgrading your Mac’s OS is a major endeavor which shouldn’t be taken lightly. I’ve always been a “glass is half-full” kind of guy so let me start with the good news. I’ve just hired two new Apple Technicians. Once they are both on-boarded, we will have the largest staff we’ve ever had at ten people, seven of whom are Apple Certified Technicians. Additionally, this past August was the single biggest total volume month we’ve every had - which is quite surprising for a non-holiday quarter month. 

Apple has updated the Touch Bar-equipped MacBook Pro line to provide even more powerful options for home users and professionals alike. The changes are primarily under the hood, focusing on faster performance, more RAM, and larger SSD-based storage, but there are a few modest physical changes too, including a quieter keyboard and a True Tone display.

One of the reasons we all love our Macintosh Computers is because they are nearly trouble-free. Now that Malware for Macs is so wide-spread, having a quick check-up every once in a while makes a whole lot of sense and, as they age, there are often other issues which could use some attention. Recently, we’ve had a massive increase in the number of customers using legacy Internet Service Provider (ISP) email systems that are having increasing difficulty getting new mail, sending mail, or moving their account to a new computer or modern OS. If you have an email address ending in @snet.net, @sbcglobal.net, or several others which no longer exist, you are in jeopardy of losing access to that email and we strongly recommend switching to an email system not tied to your ISP such as Gmail or iCloud.

Apple recently released a statement regarding iPhone batteries and performance. In that statement, they offered reduced pricing on battery replacements for qualifying iPhones during the year 2018. Without getting into specifics, Apple’s pricing is well below our costs. Apple can afford to subsidize the battery replacement in their own stores, unfortunately we can not. We are however reducing our iPhone battery replacement pricing down to just $79.95 including parts, labor, and testing.
